Ditto! I'm in total agreement.

I have an idea for an online Surface Design Fest here...

Mine too!  I love to experiment with different techniques for surface design.  As a matter of fact this year I decided to stop using any commercial fabrics in my work and use only fabrics that I've painted and dyed myself.  I think when you work with fabrics you've altered the surface of yourself the finished product is that much more unique and special.

Me too. I tend to use my own fabrics more than commercial. though I must say, with the layered techniques I am using, the commercial prints lend a crisp, clean aesthetic to my current style. So. It is all good.

I am spending a blessed few hours this Sunday afternoon cleaning my studio (it's disgusting) and then going to screen-print some fabrics for my Blog Giveaway.

Stumbled across this piece of fabric that Melly threw away in the trash at last QA TV taping.  Naughty girl! I claimed it from the trash and it is a cherished possession that I will do something with in the future.

Sigh...even her trash is pretty.

I would have saved it from the trash can too, it's got such a great color combination going on.

Well, I often do Melly Scrap Give Aways because I don't like saving my flubs and mess ups and can't stand scraps either (I promised myself my fabric stash wouldn't exceed my storage capacity and I do stick to this plan!), So maybe I should have a scrap give away, like Pokey!

This won't be the place to post this, but I can't seem to post on the 'giveaway page??

Also, how do I invite someone to join? via a link? or just copy and paste the url?

You know I don't save much for scraps either.  It has to be a decent sized piece for me to save it.  I just don't have the room to store lots of scraps and honestly when I start working on something I would rarely look through the scraps anyway so I either give them away or I toss them.

I am a total scrap saver, hate to waste things and think that I can do something with even the smallest scraps. I keep them for when I make Christmas ornaments which is something I do for every family member every year, ATC's and for making thank you cards/gifts for the kids to take to their teachers. I fuse them, paint them, use them as is, you name it. They are great for both surface design and stuffing ornaments with. I will however never in my lifetime get around to using all the scraps I have.

I recently gave my kids a large box of scraps and a design board for them to create their own "quilts"....I am starting early on shaping the next generation! This still did not make much of a dent on my stash!
