My Bio

 PlainJaneStudio.com and JaneVille.blogspot.com

I am mixed media artist working in paper and cloth. My background includes degrees in Graphic Design and Asian Studies, and my work history has been in graphic design and marketing (and a long time ago, an international flight attendant). In 1992, I began my fine arts career painting in watercolor, then morphed into collage and sewing on paper. By 1998, I was a full-time artist.  In 2003 I began working with cloth and creating art quilts. Now my work is a combination of all that—watercolor, collage and cloth and combining them all. AND, living the artist life I was meant to live!

    Intro to Wet Felting Workshop

    Jane LaFazio

    Tuesday 9 AM – 12 noon

    Aug 25 (1/2 day)

    San Diego/Park Blvd Studio

    $50/60

    Materials fee: $30 includes everything

Using colorful wool fibers, a modernized ancient technique, some creative designing and a lot of elbow grease, you will create a beautiful and feels-so-soft felt square in few hours.  It may not be large enough to build a yurt; but it will make a lovely wall hanging or become part of another fiber piece.  During the felting process there will be lots of time to visit and laugh with other participants and you won’t need to go to the gym to work out that day! All materials are provided for you including a selection of wool rovings and the equipment needed to create your own original 18x18” piece of hand-made felt.  Wear clothes and shoes that may get wet.   Questions, e-mail Jane at PlainJaneStudio@gmail.com.

You’ll learn tons of techniques and be inspired to continue in your own studio or journal. . Class will be inspirational, positive, and fun, with lots of sharing, laughing, and learning from the others in the class. All levels of experience are welcome. Questions, e-mail Jane at PlainJaneStudio@gmail.com.

Materials bring to class: liquid matte medium, acrylic paints (whatever you have, but transparent liquid acrylics are best,) Golden brand Titan Buff liquid acrylic or white gesso, good quality watercolor paper or other support (like old paintings), brushes for paints and for glue, scissors, sheer papers for collage (tissue, phone books, maps), speedball lino-cutter tool, soft kut print block (~4x6) and permanent black marker both chisel point and fine point, pencil and your own sketchbook/journal for notes and doodles, images or ideas that may become the theme of your work over the 3 days.  Optional: needle, embroidery thread, awl, water soluble crayons, fabric scraps.
